House with a Six Slope Roof

  • The project begins with the idea of minimal housing to conceive a design in which spatial perception is not limited by the dimensions of the built space. It proposes a house expanded through its layout of three offset blocks with independent roofs, arranged to guarantee ideal ventilation and sunlight for the predominantly hot climate of Goiânia.

This strategy not only connects the interior spaces—minimizing circulation between them—but also provides the necessary privacy for each room through the placement of the main walls. The living room becomes a large common space with constant daylight, cross-ventilation, and direct connection to the backyard. By freeing the maximum area for shared living, the interior and exterior merge along a single axis, enhancing the residence as a whole.

The solution adopted for the placement of the houses on the site considers not only the setbacks required by Goiânia’s Building Code, but also the construction of the units following the existing topography. This approach reduces earthworks, minimizing grading costs and construction efforts. The positioning on the lot, combined with the geometry of the built space, establishes a gradient of privacy from the street to the rear of the property.

The project also allows for modifications and/or expansions to the building’s volume. To this end, the design anticipates an additional room beside the bathroom. Its proximity to the utilities and direct access to the street allow the space to be used for various purposes—from accommodating a growing family to commercial activities that supplement income and support local commerce. The project also includes an accessible version that considers the 1.50-meter turning radius without altering the building’s volume, reinforcing the collective identity of the development.
