Covid-19 Memorial
-
Within a large public space, a new route lands on the ground, offering an environment rich in sensory stimuli for reflection, memory, and celebration of the collective efforts and lives transformed by the pandemic. A narrative is created through the requalification of the space with specific interventions, both built and natural, which coexist harmoniously in the new garden. The strategy adopted was determined by the individual and collective nature of the effects inflicted by Covid-19. The wooden deck path is the link of the entire memorial, along which five pavilions are arranged intertwined with existing and proposed natural elements. Different views of the garden and of the pavilions are intentionally directed by the path and vegetation, revealing them as visitors walk through the memorial. Each pavilion has specific characteristics that evoke sensations or experiences from recent years, whether individual or collective, internal or external. Visitors are invited to explore these spaces, always returning to the main path to continue the route.
