Museum of History and Future

  • Conceived as an extension of the City’s grid and a connection to the proposed park, the site strategically adopts contextual motifs while allowing new opportunities to arise - potentially (re)establishing a symbiotic link between the Castle and the river. An orchestration of alternating green and built spaces reclaim an underutilized asphalt area seeking to establish this new cultural attraction. In which, neighborhood residents, visitors, and passers-by are invited to wander within a public realm not restricted to the ground floor, engage within its landscape, and experience varying elevations and uninterrupted views beyond.  The proposal shifts away from conventional museum typology design conceived through enclosed and controlled spaces. Instead, a series of expansive roof slopes and steps weave indoor and outdoor spaces and create thresholds for various curated or otherwise spontaneous happenings. As a vessel of social exchange and intellectual discourse, the building which hosts art collections and office spaces also becomes an active participant in providing accessible, adaptive, and inviting space for a diversity of people, ideas, and exhibitions.
